National Liberation Day is a national liberation and government holiday that commemorates the independence of the Japanese colonial rule and the restoration of sovereignty on Wednesday, August 15, 1945 (July 8, 1945). On October 1, 1949, the "Act on National Day" was enacted and designated as a national holiday, and it is one of the five major national holidays in Korea along with March 1st., Constitution Day, National Foundation Day, and Hangeul Day.

When that day comes, when that day comes,
Samgaksan, get up and dance more
The day when the water of the Han River is turned upside down and the sun rises
As long as you're here before this life is over,
I'm like a crow flying in the night sky
I'm going to hit Jongro with my head.
Even if the skull is broken and shattered,
What kind of sorrow will remain when I am so happy?

That day has come. Oh, that day has come
Even if you run and roll around crying on the wide road in front of the Six Dynasties,
But my heart is about to burst with joy
I'll peel off the skin of my body with a knife
He made a big drum and carried it around
take the lead in your procession
If you hear that loud sound,
I'll shut my eyes even if I fall down on the spot.
